The report did not only mention Ghana as a source of the Cocaine to Belgium, France & Netherlands. They said heroine is being manufactured in the Oti & Volta regions with active support with politicians. NDC is the only popular party in those 2 regions means they're in tacit support of the Drug biz.

During NPP's time and when NACOC was withdrawn from Tema, there weren't any reported cases of narcotic seasures in Ghana and abroad. But with gonja mafia and his QNET govt, Ghana, now known as cocaine coast, has established itself as land or cocaine origin. What a schame!

Why is John Dramani Mahama's NDC government destroying Ghana's name with cocain? Ghana does not deserve this. The NDC government is involved with the cocain because, if not then why will the majority of parliament block a partisan investigation? Do we have some cocain Lords running our country? The NDC must be voted out of government, the least chance we get. Mahama is corrupt. He may be very well the government official #1 of the airbus saga, and we will never know.

Ghana’s Cocaine Link to Antwerp Port: A Growing Threat to Our Global Image
Ghana’s reputation as a peaceful, stable and business-friendly country is facing renewed scrutiny following reports that the country ranked fifth among countries of origin for cocaine shipments seized at Belgium’s Port of Antwerp in 2025. According to Belgian customs figures reported by JoyNews, Ghana was the only African country among the top five, with nearly 55 tonnes of cocaine intercepted at the port overall that year. Importantly, the classification refers to where containers were loaded and shipped, not where the cocaine was produced.
The development raises serious concerns about Ghana’s international image and the credibility of its ports and export systems. For a country seeking to attract foreign investment, expand exports and strengthen trade relations, repeated links to major international drug seizures could invite greater scrutiny of Ghanaian shipments, increase inspection delays and undermine confidence among international trading partners. It also risks overshadowing the legitimate work of Ghanaian businesses and exporters who contribute to the country’s economic development.
The situation demands urgent, coordinated and sustained action. First, the government must strengthen security at the ports of Tema and Takoradi through modern cargo-scanning technology, intelligence-led inspections and improved cooperation among customs officials, the Narcotics Control Commission and other security agencies. Second, allegations of corruption or complicity among public officials must be investigated independently, with anyone found guilty held accountable under the law, regardless of position or influence.
Third, Ghana must deepen intelligence-sharing and joint investigations with Belgian authorities and other international partners to identify the criminal networks behind these shipments. Stronger monitoring of high-risk cargo, transparent port procedures and effective prosecution of traffickers are equally essential. The government should also publish regular, credible updates on seizures, investigations and prosecutions to demonstrate measurable progress.
Ultimately, Ghana cannot protect its international reputation through public statements alone. It must demonstrate, through decisive enforcement, institutional accountability and international cooperation, that its ports will not be exploited by transnational criminal networks. Protecting the country’s image is not merely a matter of national pride; it is essential to safeguarding legitimate trade, investor confidence and the future of Ghana’s economy.
