The Ghana Police Service has provided details on the murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, a phone dealer who operated at Circle in Accra.

According to the police in a statement issued on Monday, September 28, 2026, the deceased was allegedly lured by suspect Sarah Osei Adams to the residence of another suspect, Philip Tefe, at Teshie, where he was attacked and killed.

Police investigations so far have revealed that Nana Yaw Kyere was hit with a metallic object by Philip Tefe after a confrontation broke out.

The victim sustained injuries in the attack but was still alive.

He was subsequently left unattended in another room where the suspects had taken him after the attack and later died from his injuries.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on 19th September 2026 in his Honda Civic vehicle and did not return. Investigations revealed that the victim was lured to suspect Philip Tefe's residence at Teshie Agbleza by suspect Sarah Osei Adams.

“Both suspects later confessed to their involvement and indicated that suspect Philip Tefe attacked the victim during a confrontation and hit him with a metallic object, causing him to sustain injuries. The victim was then moved to another room where he was left unattended to and later died,” police said.

Police added that following the victim’s death, his body was carried and placed in another truck before being dumped in a bush near the motorway on September 20, 2026, where it was set ablaze.

“Investigations further established that the victim's body was conveyed in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway on 20th September 2026, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze. The partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on 21st September 2026,” it added.

Philip Tefe, following the victim’s death, allegedly sold his iPhone 12 for GH¢100 to another person, who has since been cautioned and detained by the police.

“The Police have also retrieved the victim's iPhone 12, which suspect Philip Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100.00. The buyer, Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for dishonestly receiving the phone,” they added.

Meanwhile, another suspect, identified as Josiah Obodai, has been arrested for allegedly assisting the other two suspects in disposing of the victim’s body. The vehicle reportedly used in the disposal is believed to belong to his father.

“Further investigations led to the arrest of suspect Josiah Obodai, who is being investigated in connection with the disposal of the body. His father's Kia Morning vehicle, which is believed to have been used to convey the body, has also been impounded,” it concluded.

It will be recalled that the victim, Nana Yaw, was reported missing on social media on September 19, 2026, with posters and flyers circulating after he left home to allegedly close a phone business deal.

Subsequently, a phone conversation said to be between the victim and one of his friends went viral, with parts of the chat showing the victim informing his friend that he had been set up and sharing the location of the suspects with him.

The victim’s vehicle, a Honda Civic, was later discovered at a mechanic shop, where it had allegedly been sent by the suspects.
