I hold no defense for the government, particularly the NACOC boss and his team. Did he know of NACOC's removal from the inspection team on assumption of office? What did he do about it? Did he inform government about it? That are the legitimate questions we should be asking. Kofi Bentil is self-seeking. He will say anything to back Bawumia.
Readings around narcotics trade shows they are very patient people and can take a long time to build networks, compromise institutions and officials to have their way. They would have started building these networks immediately after NACOC was removed, got the substance into the country and with the change in government, spend sometime to compromise officials at the port. This elaborate plan could not have been executed right from March 2025 when the first bust was made. They had infiltrated the system already and took advantage of the transition in March 2025 and when they failed, they had to lie low to work on the system.
The biggest question NACOC current leadership should be answering to Ghanaians is when they realized their removal and what they did about it.
