Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has stated that the interest of Ghanaians remains the government’s top priority as the 2027 budget hearings come to a close this week.

According to Dr Forson, every decision taken during the ongoing budget hearings with ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) must be guided by what is in the interest of the Ghanaian people.

“Through every hearing and every decision, one principle remains non-negotiable: the interest of the Ghanaian people comes first,” he said in a post via X on September 22, 2026.

The MDA budget hearings form part of preparations for the 2027 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, with the government reviewing the spending plans and priorities of various state institutions.

The exercise is expected to help the government identify key sectors, projects and investment opportunities as it seeks to move the economy from stabilisation towards sustained growth.

Dr Forson has also linked the 2027 budget preparations to the government’s new economic programme, under which about US$10 billion is expected to be mobilised to stimulate economic activity.

The government is expected to present the 2027 Budget Statement to Parliament in the first week of November 2026.

The 2027 Budget is expected to outline the government’s plans for major infrastructure projects, job creation and new incentives to support businesses as it focuses on the next phase of Ghana’s economic growth.
