More photos of Musah Attah, alias “Kromo”, one of the suspects arrested in connection with the €225 million cocaine bust in France, have emerged following the Narcotics Control Commission’s (NACOC) denial that he was part of the presidential security detail.

The photos show Musah Attah with President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang at both official and social events.

Some of the photos, which have been widely circulated, appear to show the suspect among the entourage of the President and Vice President.

In one of the photos, Musah Attah is seen cutting a cake with the Vice President at what is believed to be a birthday or other celebratory event.

Meanwhile, the pictures of Musah Attah, also known as Kromo, have been circulating on social media for the past four days, with claims linking him to the presidential security details.

So far, there has been no official communication from the Presidency confirming or denying the claims.

The development comes amid renewed attention to security at Ghana’s ports. The President recently met with the country’s security chiefs following recent drug trafficking cases at the ports and directed the development of a two-week action plan to strengthen border security.



The controversy arose after the New Tafo Member of Parliament, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, alleged that Musah Attah was part of the security team of President John Dramani Mahama and the Vice President.

However, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has dismissed claims that any of the suspects arrested in connection with the €225 million cocaine bust in France was a member of the presidential security detail.

Responding to the claim, Deputy Director-General of NACOC, Alexander Twum-Barimah, said background checks conducted on all the suspects in custody had not identified any of them as a presidential escort.

Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues on Sunday, September 20, he said: “From the background that we have done, I don’t have any presidential bodyguard. President John Dramani Mahama’s bodyguard? Then he has to come clear and explain to us his job description and everything.”



“And like I said to you earlier, we have checked all the people that we have in custody, their backgrounds are known to us, and we don’t have any of them who is a presidential escort,” he stressed.



About the initial four suspects arrested

Four Ghanaians linked to the alleged exportation of nearly four tonnes of cocaine from Ghana to France have been formally charged, with details emerging about their arrests and statements to investigators.

The accused are Desmond Koranteng Curiel, also known as Paul Kweku Yeboah or “Biggs”; Musah Attah, alias “Kromo”; Kweku Otchere; and Jessica Hartog.

They were arraigned before the High Court in Accra on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, and remanded to reappear on October 13, 2026.

They are facing charges of conspiracy to export narcotic drugs without a licence and the exportation of narcotic drugs.

US-based Ghanaian professor shot dead

According to details of the case reported by GHOne TV journalist Awisi Dede, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) arrested Curiel and Hartog at Ashaley Botwe on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Curiel is described in court reports as a businessman or business broker, while Hartog, his fiancée, works as a beautician.

Kweku Otchere, the third accused, was also arrested at his residence in East Legon on the same day.

Awisi Dede reported that a subsequent search allegedly led investigators to three firearms, ammunition, four luxury vehicles, passports, and various sums of money.

Musah Attah was arrested two days later, on Monday, September 14, 2026, at the NACOC headquarters.
