The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection is set to submit four bills aimed at strengthening child protection and addressing domestic abuse to Parliament at its next sitting.

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, disclosed this when she took her turn at the Government Accountability Series on September 16, 2026.

She said the move follows Cabinet approval of the proposed legislation as part of efforts to strengthen the protection and welfare of vulnerable groups.

“For children, five separate bills and policies have advanced through Cabinet this year. The Early Childhood Care and Development Policy, the Domestic Violence Policy, the Children’s Amendment Bill, the Children and Young Persons Justice Administration Bill and the Domestic Abuse Bill,” she said.

The ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to child protection and providing care and support for children affected by violence and human trafficking.

It said it would also continue to expand public education on child rights and gender-related issues.
