Asamoah Gyan’s long-standing Al Ain scoring record in Asian club competitions has been surpassed, with Moroccan forward Soufiane Rahimi becoming the club’s outright leading scorer after reaching 19 goals.

Rahimi achieved the feat on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, scoring in Al Ain’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabian giants Al Nassr in the AFC Champions League Elite.

The Moroccan found the net in the 72nd minute to complete a memorable night for Al Ain and move to 19 goals in Asian club competitions for the UAE side.

His goal took him one ahead of the previous joint record of 18 goals held by Gyan and Al Ain legend Omar Abdulrahman.

Gyan’s 18-goal mark was set in the 2014 AFC Champions League campaign, when he scored a tournament-leading 12 goals that year.

His tally remained among the club’s best for more than 12 years before Rahimi finally moved beyond it.

Although Abdulrahman later matched Gyan’s total, neither player had been surpassed until Rahimi’s goal against Al Nassr.

Rahimi, who joined Al Ain in 2022, has since developed into one of the club’s most important attacking players. He played a central role in their 2024 AFC Champions League triumph and has continued to make his mark in continental competition.

At 19 goals, Rahimi now stands alone at the top of Al Ain’s scoring chart in Asian competitions, bringing an end to Gyan and Abdulrahman’s shared record.
