WHAT TO DO:
1. Form a 7 member Kokomba Yam Sellers Association of Agbogbloshie (KYSAA) to represent all the Kokomba yam sellers there.
2. Look for a portable safe space there fir the Association to use for the business. You can even use 2 simple 40 ft Containers - to store and sell their yam to the public. It’s easily moveable, temporal and cost effective. AMA will easily agree since it’s no permanent structure. NB: Yam is a fast and stable food in Accra and It sells fast.
3. Give them capital to buy all the yam the Kokombas bring to Agbogbloshie market - so almost all the Kokomba traders won’t need to trade there in persons. They bring and sell to the Association, take their money and go home. (The Association can then take a percentage commission fee from them to cover some overhead expenses and salaries.
4. The Association can also employ few of them to work there and help run mthe business.
5. Nitiwul and his noisy colleagues can then go to the government and AMA and negotiate that after completion of the market the Kokombas should have a priority space since their part of the market was demolished to pave way for the project.
I HUMBLY THINK THIS IS HOW THIS ISSUE CAN EASILY BE RESOLVED AND EXPLORE THE OPPORTUNITY THE ENTIRE EXERCISE BRING TO THE FORE.
