Not being a Rhode Scholar,but OK with common sense.Why does Ghana Bank continually throw money and big money,into the financial system to steady the Ghana Cedi from imploding?... A currency finds it's own value when it floated doesn't it..... But there seems to be a fear, that's not a good idea,well why not.? Ghana's economy the last 18months has been nothing short of a miracle,also helped by the resurgence of the value of gold.
So when you pump money into the system to help the Cedi is artificial and not the true value isn't it.?

It's because cedi it's supposed to be on 20 or more against dollar at this point...that doesn't mean the cedi is weak...some countries play with that to collect more from their imports taxes (which were reduce when they drop ... read full comment
It's because cedi it's supposed to be on 20 or more against dollar at this point...that doesn't mean the cedi is weak...some countries play with that to collect more from their imports taxes (which were reduce when they drop the rate and nkw had to add new fees...like the airport one)
it doesn't matter how much you try to hold the water, if there is a hole it will try to pass there. These are very expensive patches to the cedi.
The rate was on 15 for over a year and prices were not really increasing that much.
