We were made to believe that all the SOEs just hopeless, could never even break even but only post huge losses year after year. (From that stage then they make the argument to privatise the SOEs or introduce so-called private partnerships. Then they will hand over these state entities to themselves and their cronies for lunch money). Then there is a change of administration and suddenly the story of the SOEs suddenly changes drastically for the better. Which sensible, patriotic Ghanaian, regardless of their creed, tribe, political persuasion and the position they occupy, can resist the irresistible edge to make remarks on the huge difference? It's like you suddenly accept the Lordship of Christ Jesus over you and a terrible addiction that you've struggled with for over a decade suddenly goes out of the door quickly and quietly, not looking back. Breaking free from chains really feels good and relieving.
And that's what happened to TOR (which they tried several times to hand over to themselves for eburo na nkatsi sika) and other SOEs.
