It is not chaos unless the opposition NPP and their base of misinformed and incorrigible fanatics and zealots label it so.
Our colonial masters left us a secondary school system of mostly boarding schools. But with all the monies and human cargo they pillaged from the colonies and years of their rich economies, most of the colonial master nations have fewer boarding schools at the secondary of tertiary levels.
The question for the Newsfile production team and managment is why have they never put on a program that discusses, evaluate and analyze the entire free SHS scheme from concept to implementation, roll-out, sustainability and the future of the scheme relative to boarding status.
In my opinion any Ghana government public administration policy proposals that has no return on investment (ROI) to the nation and continues to drain capital/funding from taxpayer sources without equivalent/matching revenues is a bad policy no matter the social good. You cannot educate people who, because of the inability to get jobs and secure benefits at retirement die because of lack of resources.
Would it be considered a good moral choice for a person who comes upon a fight between two groups and decide to sell arms to one party that can afford to buy and provide free food to the other party that has no money to buy arms but wont give them free guns because they do not have money to buy? Is it our moral position that we can keep feeding one side to make them ready to be slaughtered by the side that has guns because they have the money to buy our arms?
What will our collective choice be If the choice optionscfor government is to provide mediocre education system that purports to educate the youth for "free" but no job prospects and a bleak retirement existence for the majority or parent funded schooling choice for their children and a government subsidized work programs with retirement benefits that reduces youth unemployment by 25 percent which in turn reduces crime and drug abuse?
School choice chaos is triggered by a society that hides the failed promises of free SHS education and seeks to blame some government for the failures. Did every child in Ghana get to attend the secondary/ SHS of their choice from the 1950's to date? Did each student who attended premier Secondary schools/SHS in Ghana get to university or get the best jobs in life? Was Dr. Adutwum the best student in his secondary school days? Did he get to the #1 top secondary school in Ghana? So but for politics how can Dr. Adutwum explain correlation between his secondary school choice, his escape for schooling in the USA and all that jazz he is talking now?
The IMF is simply mad. People with brains for reasoning should know this: if all 3rd world nations and developing nations of the world stopped or did not have to seek IMF loans what and who would the IMF get to boss around or continue its master-slave role with? The IMF will always prefer the NPP because the NPP is the only party that is and has not hesitated handing over Ghana and all its wealth to be controlled by foreign interests while the NPP leaders played demi-god with Ghanaians. IMF would not have a reason to have a station in Ghana if Ghana was truly free of the IMF. The Ghana stationed IMF staff would be of no value to the agency if they wrote the truths about Ghana's economic outlook; like the late Dr. J. B. Danquah, they have to paint a negative picture of Ghana for their paychecks.
