I don’t think there’s any time frame to appoint someone whenever another person resigns. After all the President didn’t create the vacancy and 30 or so other members to work with is enough. Ghana will save some money.

How much of our taxpayers’ hard-earned money is wasted every year maintaining this unnecessary and non-beneficial “Council of State”?
At a time when our young people are desperate for jobs, graduates are sitting at home, businesses are struggling, and families are being crushed by the cost of living, government continues to fund what increasingly looks like an expensive gathering of retired politicians and former public officials.
Enough is enough. Abolish the useless Council of State!
Retirement should mean retirement. We can respect the experience of our elders without creating taxpayer-funded positions that keep the same political establishment in power indefinitely. Our youth need jobs, skills, capital, and opportunities—not another platform for recycling yesterday’s politicians.
Whoever came up with this idea did our nation and its already-strained public purse a massive disservice. And how the so-called Constitutional Review Committee could review the Constitution and fail to recommend abolishing this institution is beyond me.
Stop recycling retired politicians. Stop wasting taxpayers’ money. Invest in the youth and the future.
Our country needs jobs and opportunities—not another comfortable retirement home for yesterday’s politicians. Abolish it!
