Prudent thinkers would have thought about growth and road expansions in the future to know where to lay and how to protect the infrastructure. Additionally, the Road Ministry, contractors and Telecos should have an information channels to consider advance notices of which road corridors are due for digging. Contractors must be charged for their recklessness, failure to inform. We see the destructions of existing infrastructures as if there is no ownership.

Common sense tells me that the road sector should include the cost of fiber cuts and repair in the road construction cost/budget and pay for it like compensation to homes and property owners affected by road construction.

Common sense tells me that the road sector should include the cost of fiber cuts and repair in the road construction cost/budget and pay for it like compensation to homes and property owners affected by road construction.
There should also be a coordinated effort between the road projects and the telecom service providers to identify fiber locations, and develop plans to relocate the fiber optics before the machines start clearing and digging the grounds.
Telecom providers must use geo position (gps) to identify and map out locations of all fiber optics cables underground as an ongoing effort to preserve fiber optic lines.
This simple common sense investment will go a long way to avoid, minimize and mitigate road projects impacts on fiber optic cables, and minimize the disruption of telecom services in Ghana.
