The sister of one of the victims of the recent violent clash between residents of Gomoa Oguaakrom and New Winneba has recounted the relationship between her late brother and the man alleged to have shot him.

According to her, the suspect was a tenant in her brother’s house and had lived there for about one and a half years without paying rent.

Speaking in a video sighted by GhanaWeb on September 5, 2026, she said her brother had never demanded rent from the man and continued to assist him despite their landlord-tenant relationship.

“The man who shot and killed my brother was a tenant in his house for one and a half years, and my brother never charged him rent. Days before he shot and killed him, my brother even met him and gave him GH¢100,” she narrated.

On September 1, 2026, some residents of Gomoa Oguaakrom entered New Winneba and allegedly attempted to lock up some shops.

Residents of New Winneba reportedly resisted the move, leading to a confrontation between the two sides.

The situation subsequently escalated into gunfire, resulting in the deaths of three people and 17 others sustaining injuries.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested six suspects in connection with the incident.
