That means about 65% of our children have not made the threshold mark of aggregate 24. 65% of the candidates will make it to SHS and TVET schools. Several reasons account for this woeful academic outcome at the basic level. One reason is the priority given to free SHS and TVET at the expense of Basic Education. If that were to be the only reason, many children attending private and international basic schools would have excelled and so the figure of under performing will not be 65% but better. That brings the question of children's low learning habit. By basic 7 our children are already getting addicted to social media and prolonged unproductive phone calls to the neglect of time spent on learning both in and out of schools. Parents are increasingly not supporting the education of our children, especially when they are not in school. This generation of Ghanaian children will become a burden to themselves and to their society sooner than later.

The Licensure comes to mind. There are many teachers who are not QUALIFIED to teach. They don't even understand what they teach. That's why we should stop politicizing education just to win political power.
