Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has inaugurated an 11-member Constitution Review Implementation Committee (CRIC) to advance proposals for the review of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.

The inauguration follows the government’s position paper on recommendations contained in the report of the Professor H. Kwesi Prempeh Constitution Review Committee, which was established by President John Dramani Mahama last year.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice on Friday, August 28, 2026, the new committee will be chaired by Presidential Legal Counsel and former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong.

The committee has been tasked with examining the government’s position paper alongside the report of the Constitution Review Committee and developing a comprehensive framework for implementing the proposed reforms.

Other members of the committee include Justice Srem Sai, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, former Electoral Commission Chairperson Charlotte Osei, Dr Rainer Akumperigya, Emelia Ankomah, Kwame Ayimadu Antwi, Samuel Passah, Oliver Baker Vormawor, Salamatu Iliasu and Eric Owusu-Mensa.

Emelia Ankomah represents the Majority, while Kwame Ayimadu Antwi represents the Minority. Samuel Passah serves as the Local Government representative, with Eric Owusu-Mensa representing Parliament.

Oliver Baker Vormawor has been appointed Secretary, while Salamatu Iliasu will serve as the Draftsperson.

The government said the establishment of the committee forms part of its commitment to advancing the proposed constitutional reforms through an inclusive process.

“Government reiterates its commitment to an inclusive and transparent constitutional review process that reflects the aspirations of the Ghanaian people and strengthens our democratic governance,” the statement added.

The committee is expected to work on the proposals emerging from the constitutional review process and provide a framework for their implementation.
