Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale has claimed that the Sports Ministry owes him about $5 million for promotional activities he undertook during Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV, the musician alleged that he has not received any payment for the work despite repeated attempts to reach government officials.

“I think now they owe me about $5 million, can I say? And they haven’t paid at all. Not a penny,” he stated.

Shatta Wale said the outstanding amount relates to postings and advertisements he carried out to promote activities surrounding the Black Stars during the World Cup.

He criticised the Sports Ministry and other government officials for what he described as disrespect and a lack of responsiveness, claiming that his calls to officials have gone unanswered.

“That’s why some of us, we are pissed,” he said.

The musician also disclosed that he and his Hot Wave team donated $100,000 to support the Black Stars during the World Cup.

Despite his criticism of government officials, Shatta Wale said his concerns should not be interpreted as opposition to President John Dramani Mahama, whose ideology he said he supports.

“I love President John Dramani Mahama’s ideology but not his appointees,” he stated.

“I love President John Dramani Mahama’s ideology but not his appointees. I’m still owed GH¢5 million by the Sports Ministry for my promotions during the World Cup.”
