Dennis Miracles Aboagye believes former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia would be a formidable contender in the 2028 presidential election if Ghanaians make their choice based on issues affecting their daily lives.

According to Aboagye, the next general election is likely to be shaped less by political party colours and more by the ability of presidential candidates to present practical solutions to the challenges confronting the country.

He believes Ghanaian voters are becoming increasingly discerning and will pay closer attention to what each candidate has to offer rather than simply voting along traditional party lines.

According to a report by myjoyonline.com, on August 28, 2026, Aboagye explained that voters ultimately consider how political decisions affect their everyday lives.

“When people are going to vote, they vote for the roads they don’t have. They vote for the schools they don’t have,” he said.

He noted that professionals and workers from different sectors would similarly assess the candidates based on how their policies could improve their livelihoods.

“The teacher is going to cast his vote based on what he thinks will benefit him. The nurse, the architect, the trotro driver, the taxi driver, all these people, they are going to get up in the morning to go and cast their vote, not because of the colours,” he stated.

Aboagye said the key question confronting voters in 2028 would be which candidate could provide credible answers to the country's problems at the time.

“That is why I am of the opinion, and I’m very convinced in that opinion, that in 2028, it’s not about what you did right or what you did wrong,” Aboagye said.

“It’s about who are the people coming to us to ask us for our votes. Now, amongst all the people asking for our vote, who amongst them is proposing solutions that address the challenges we face as of 2028?” he questioned.

He said voters would have the opportunity to weigh the various presidential candidates against each other and decide who presents the most convincing path towards improving their circumstances.

For Aboagye, this assessment would not necessarily be based solely on the past performance of the political parties represented by the candidates.

“They are going to put Dr Mahamudu Bawumia here, and put any other person also vying for president, and see who is telling us the things that will give us relief,” he said.

He also cautioned voters against letting political rhetoric and distractions pull their attention away from the issues that matter most to them.

“And that, for me, is why we should not allow any politician, especially those in government, to create a facade and continuously distract us from paying attention to the issues,” he said.

Aboagye was emphatic that Dr Bawumia would win the 2028 election if the electorate remained focused on the issues and carefully assessed what each candidate was offering.

“I can tell you, if the Ghanaian voter should focus on the issues and pay attention, no politician can beat Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 elections,” he stated.
