Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) are battling fire that gutted a residential apartment at Accra New Town in Accra.
The fire, which reportedly started on the first floor of a four-storey building on Sunday August 16, 2026, sent thick smoke billowing from the affected apartment as firefighters work to bring the situation under control.
According to residents gathered at the scene, access to the affected floor has been challenging, forcing firefighters to deploy a ladder to reach the apartment and intensify their firefighting efforts.

The cause of the blaze is suspected to have been from an overheated power bank that had been left on charge.
Firefighting operations are still ongoing at the time of reporting.
However no injuries had been recorded as firefighters continued their efforts to bring the blaze under control.
