The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has rescued a driver who was trapped inside a truck following an accident on the Kintampo–Tamale Highway.
The accident occurred at Water Falls Junction on Friday, August 14, 2026.
In a statement shared on Facebook on Sunday, August 16, the GNFS said it received a distress call at 4:36 pm reporting the incident and immediately dispatched a rescue team to the scene.
“On arrival at 16:46hrs, the crew observed that a Shacman trailer with registration number GC 3825-19, loaded with packs of bottled drinks and travelling from Kumasi to Buipe, had been involved in an accident,” the Service stated.

The fire crew, led by ASTNO Agyekum Emmanuel, found the driver trapped inside the vehicle and immediately commenced rescue operations to free him.
The driver was successfully extricated from the truck and transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
The GNFS said the scene was subsequently made safe before the crew returned to the station at 6:27 pm, after completing the rescue operation.
The cause of the accident and the current condition of the driver have not been disclosed.
