Hmmm. I appreciate the increase in the number of Tertiary Education in the country by the Government. What beats my imagination is whether there will be available jobs for such Graduates. Traditionally, our educational system does not train people to be Self Employed. All students who come out from the Universities depend on the Government for employment. So, after National Service, we see young people carrying files and folders that contain their resume moving from one office to the other and ministry to ministry looking for jobs that are not available. Then we have many unemployed University Graduates in the country.
Unfortunately for Ghanaians, people are choisy when it comes to jobs. In the Western World, it is very common to find people with Graduate Degrees driving 18 Wheeler Trucks and earning much more money than people who want to work at the office. I had a friend who was a Certified Mechanic making about $70000.00 a year. I was then teaching in a Two year college and didn't make that. I know a Hair Beautician who braids hair and makes about $5000.00 a week braiding hair. So, in Uncle Sam's country, there is almost no unemployment always. People who become unemployed become so they don't want to do certain jobs. After school, I sometimes go to work at a Production Company from Friday evening to Sunday night. On vacations, I work at Production for full time. I will suggest to the Government to encourage people to do other jobs besides their areas of Specializations. People should be prepared to adjust to do available legal jobs while they look for what they have specialized in because situations in the World keep changing. I have friends here who are teachers but drive Uber and Taxi after school. Let us revise the way we think about the kinds of work we want to do. There should not be that serious unemployment in the country.

It's the entire party's communication weakness not only for Haruna Iddrisu. NDC has been touting themselves for being better at establishing universities than NPP. They failed to look at the quality of products coming out these universities they've established as to whether they meet the industries requirements. It's a major contributor to our high number of unemployment list.

Let’s stop fanning religious hatred. It’s not healthy for this country or any other country. We must think carefully about the future of our country and our children. Stop the nonsense. My worry about this new University is that we don’t have enough resources to take care of the existing one but we are talking about setting a new one up. Really? What’s the real rational? Is it for political convenience and patronage? My prediction is that this will fail and become embroiled in a debt trap. Why all the wastage of funds and unnecessary spending? Hmmmmmm

As for these 5 Northern regions of Ghana, if it's practically possible we will cut it off and come and place the whole area near the Coast. Right from independence, they've used the area to Steal the ppl of Ghana. All our resources including that of NGOS have been directed to that area yet it still remains underdeveloped. I get so angry and infuriated anytime our Leaders plans to send another money there for a new development. They will steal the money and do a shoddy job. Do not be surprised they will establish this Arab technological university and start selling Diluted Degrees.

If Northerners really believed in science and technology, the few that we've produced from KNUST & other institutions would've displayed it in their livelihood. Check their lifestyle and the way they live and tell me they need a technological university. Simple farming implements they can't produce to takeover from their Hoes & Cutlasses. They still prefer primitive thatched muddy houses which can be modernise. Still prefer to sleep with their animals under the same roof bcoz of insecurity. How do you teach science to someone who don't believe in peaceful coexistence?

People who are intolerant of other tribes do not deserve national monuments that will require the attendance of the people the hate. The Gonjas are busy killing Konkombas and birfors in their region and yet want a public university that should be open to these people. They even have smouldering conflicts with the feudal counterparts, the Dagombas and Mamprusis, that is only a matter of time to explode. Don't waste our money on a university that will not be open to every Ghanaian. Think, Mr. Minister.

Here in Ghana graduates and farming are parallel. Only white collar jobs are the interest whilst the nation is never prepared to bring about establishments. What would the graduates do for sustenance after graduation? Even the existing lecturers are every period on strike for inadequate package. Here in Africa people come to office to perform the opposite instead of the exact procedures In other countries industrial areas are bigger than suburbs. Ghana nothing. If everyone is Bsc. holder without a job then what had been the effort. Foreign students would flock in then refuse to depart. In eventuality or afterwards compete with the nationals for vacancies. Etc. Now in US after graduation one is supposed to leave within a month as a new law. Can we do that here. Better we reason more than common sense.

Our major problem is we do not have leaders who think of developing our counyry first. They do not think of what the products of our many universities will do for living upon graduation. Instead of setting up factories to convert our mamy primary products into manufactured goods and thus creating opportunities for jobs, they think rather of yheir stomachs.
Haruna Iddrisu are you aware of the numerous farm products in your region? Can you ask the existing universities there to create factories to use the farm products as raw materials and cteate jobs?
