Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana has retained the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Savannah Regional chairmanship after defeating former Ghana Water Limited Managing Director Clifford Abdallah Braimah in the party’s regional executive elections.
Sulemana secured 92 votes against Braimah’s 88, winning the closely contested race by four votes.
The result gives Sulemana another term to lead the party in the Savannah Region, where he is expected to oversee its organisational activities and preparations ahead of the 2028 general election.
Aboagye Kwame won the first vice chairman position with 124 votes, defeating Alhaji Braimah Adam, who polled 54.
Johnson Kwame Gyinde was elected second vice chairman with 120 votes after beating Mahama S. Mumuni Akotia, who obtained 60 votes.
Seidu Ayuba secured the secretary position with 91 votes, narrowly defeating Mohammed Issah, who polled 89.
Sulemana Aminu Mayoyo won the deputy secretary position with 83 votes, while Sumani Inusah received 97 votes. Despite the higher number of votes, the results provided indicate that Mayoyo was declared elected.
Raphael Mahama Akati was elected organiser unopposed.
Ali Abubakar won the treasurer position with 106 votes against Abu Lutie’s 74.
Mohammed Fatahia emerged as women organiser after polling 91 votes in a three-way contest. Losina Barikisu received 48 votes, while Mahama Sheila Hanatu secured 41.
Mohammed Shiraz-Deen was elected communications officer with 60 votes. He defeated Kanyiti Saburu Kantama, who polled 49, Mohammed Muniru with 43, Abubakar Ridwan with 23 and Sulemana Martin Rashid with five.
Alpha Omar Yakubu won the Nasara organiser position with 95 votes, defeating Mohammed Marhey Bamba, who obtained 84.
Adam Mohammed Mansuru was elected youth organiser after polling 97 votes, while Yakubu Yussif secured 83.
The elections form part of the NPP’s process of renewing its regional leadership as the party works to strengthen its structures ahead of the next general election.
