Several people are feared dead in a gory crash on the Ofankor Barrier road in the nation’s capital, Accra, in the early hours of Thursday, August 13, 2026.
According to an update shared by the Ghana National Fire Service, multiple vehicles were involved in the crash, including two tipper trucks, a sprinter, and a tricycle, locally called aboboya.
The PRO of the service, Alex King Nartey, who shared the update, stated in a video recording that multiple dead bodies had been recovered from the vehicles involved in the crash.
He also stated that a number of mutilated bodies had been retrieved from the vehicles.
The accident occurred on the express lane of the N6 highway from the Pokuase side heading towards Achimota at about 4 am.
The Ghana National Fire Service has disclosed that at least 10 bodies were retrieved from the vehicles.
Unconfirmed reports also indicated that 10 mutilated bodies had been retrieved from the vehicles, with about 7 of them unconscious.
A video from the scene of the incident showed personnel of the Fire Service making frantic efforts to rescue some of the people who had been trapped in the sprinter, which had been completely destroyed.
The personnel could be seen cutting portions of the vehicle to rescue a woman who had been trapped.
