A Muslim man has confronted Apostle Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei, popularly known as Apostle Daniel JY Adjei, at the police headquarters in Accra over alleged derogatory comments he made about Prophet Mohammed in a video circulated on social media.

In a video that has gone viral, the pastor, who was seen in handcuffs, was confronted by the Muslim man, who questioned whether he would have made similar comments if he were within a Muslim community.

The man stressed the need for religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians, while warning against statements that could inflame tensions between the two religious communities.

“We are peacemakers. The man who said we should kill. You see, the Office of the Chief Imam has called for his arrest.

“If we are not at the police headquarters, if it is outside within the Muslim jurisdiction, will you even open your mouth? We should respect ourselves,” he said.

The cleric further challenged the pastor to consider whether Muslims had similarly disrespected Jesus Christ, stressing that religious figures and beliefs must be treated with respect.

“Prophet Muhammad, have you ever seen any Muslim disrespecting your Jesus? Do you know Jesus very well? Do you know much about Jesus?” he asked.

He also rejected the pastor’s attempt to justify his alleged comments by referring to insults against Christians by some Muslims.

“You want to explain yourself that Muslims, some Muslims, are insulting Christians. That is why you take the law into your hands. So, the law will deal with you,” the man said.

He also commended the leadership of the National Chief Imam for promoting peaceful relations between Muslims and Christians, saying religious leaders must work to prevent actions that could create tension in the country.

“The National Chief Imam is a leader. There is no way the Chief Imam will not bridge the relationship between Muslims and Christians anywhere. He said this country, people should learn from us,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the National Signals Bureau (NSB), arrested Apostle Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei over the alleged derogatory and offensive comments about Prophet Mohammed contained in the video.

The arrest was carried out by the Police Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET).

The Police said investigations are ongoing and that the suspect will be taken through due process of the law.
