The National Service Authority (NSA) has announced that it will not deploy graduates from 13 tertiary institutions for national service because the institutions do not currently have accredited status.

This was contained in a statement issued by the NSA on August 11, 2026.

According to the Authority, it engaged GTEC, the statutory body responsible for regulating and accrediting tertiary education institutions in Ghana, to verify the accreditation status of the institutions following requests for the deployment of their graduating students for national service.

“Following the verification conducted by GTEC, the Authority has been informed that the following institutions do not currently have accredited status,” it said.

The NSA said it is therefore unable to deploy graduates submitted by the affected institutions for national service.

However, the NSA stressed that the affected graduates may still be considered for national service if their respective institutions resolve their accreditation issues.

It said once GTEC formally confirms the institutions' accredited status to the NSA, the Authority will take the necessary steps to process and deploy eligible graduates, subject to applicable national service requirements.

The NSA has urged the affected institutions to engage directly with GTEC to regularise their accreditation status.

It also advised prospective national service personnel from the affected institutions to liaise with their schools regarding their accreditation status and await official communication from the Authority.

The NSA said its verification and deployment processes are intended to safeguard the integrity, credibility and transparency of the National Service Programme.

The Authority added that it will continue working with GTEC and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that only graduates from duly accredited tertiary institutions are mobilised for national service.
