Campaign manager of the late New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Asante Mampong, Beatrice Siaw, has recounted the circumstances leading to her death.

Yaw Takyie, in a video sighted by GhanaWeb, on August 11, 2026, said Siaw was in Mampong to meet members of her campaign team ahead of planned membership registration and dues payment activities.

He said the exercise was delayed, prompting the parliamentary aspirant to inform the team that she would be travelling to China to purchase cars for her campaign.

“Just this past Wednesday, she came to Mampong to meet with her campaign team, which I am the manager. We were trying to have registration exercises for membership and dues payment, but the process was delayed, so she informed us of her planned visit to China to purchase cars for her campaign,” he said.

According to Takyie, the team wished her well and believed that she had travelled to China as indicated.

He said he became concerned after he was unable to reach her on Friday, August 7, 2026, when they were scheduled to have a conversation.

“We wished her well and parted ways. To the best of our knowledge, we believed she had travelled to China. We had scheduled a conversation on Friday, so I called her, but couldn’t reach her. Even my text messages did not get any response,” he recalled.

He added that he subsequently contacted Siaw’s uncle, who also said he had been unable to reach her and planned to visit her residence at Ahodwo on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

Takyie stated that the situation took a different turn on Saturday, August 8, 2026, when he received a call asking whether he had heard about Siaw’s death.

“I received a call from someone on Saturday asking me if I had heard the news of Beatrice’s passing. I told him she had travelled to China because that was the last conversation we had, and that the news of her demise was not true,” he recounted.

He said the caller later connected him to someone who had reportedly received information about Siaw’s death from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The campaign manager said he was asked to provide the registration number of Siaw’s vehicle, which was later confirmed to be at the hospital.

“The person then told me someone had called him from Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and had told him of Beatrice’s death so he connected me to speak with that person. Once on the call, the person asked for Beatrice’s car number which I called out. He confirmed that she was the one and that her car has been parked at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, confirming the news of her passing,” he added.

Takyie said the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear, with the family awaiting the outcome of investigations.

He said the family has assigned some people to work with authorities at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.

“For now, we cannot tell if she was poisoned or it was God’s doing. I’ve met with the family and they said they have delegated people to Komfo Anokye for investigations,” he concluded.

News of Beatrice Siaw’s death broke on August 8, 2026, leaving many shocked by her sudden passing.

She was also known for her claim that she had undertaken development projects worth more than GH₵40 billion in the Asante Mampong Constituency.
