About 40 years ago, there was a strong spirit of cooperation and harmony among senior members in both the academic and administrative sectors of our universities. What did the framers of the system do to achieve such harmony? They maintained an analogous pay structure. The base salary structure for all senior members was essentially the same, with only minor differences to account for additional responsibilities and demands. This arrangement was generally considered fair and understandable.
However, a new generation of UTAG leaders believed they could secure a better arrangement and successfully lobbied previous governments to alter the structure. Today, we can see the consequences in our public universities. Until government restores the analogous pay structure that existed for many years, lasting peace and harmony on our campuses may remain elusive.
The moment one group begins to view another as less important, that group is likely to respond in the same way. The reality is that without administrators, universities would struggle to function effectively; likewise, without lecturers, the core mission of teaching, learning, and research cannot be fulfilled. Both groups are indispensable. Therefore, rather than creating divisions, efforts should be directed toward maintaining a fair and balanced compensation structure that recognizes the importance of all senior members.
Consider the example of a family. Both the husband and the wife play equally important roles in raising a family, even though their contributions may take different forms. A woman may contribute through pregnancy, childcare, breastfeeding, household management, and income generation. A man may contribute through providing resources, protecting the family, supporting the education of the children, instilling discipline, and providing emotional support. Although their responsibilities differ, both contribute fully to the well-being and success of the family.
The same principle applies to the relationship between GAUA and UTAG senior members. Each group performs unique but essential functions that contribute to the success of the university. The wisdom of earlier generations was their recognition of this reality, which led them to maintain an analogous pay structure for senior members.
In short, no group is more important than another. Every senior member contributes to the effective functioning of the university. Government should therefore reconsider and restore the analogous pay structure for senior members in our public universities to promote fairness, unity, and lasting industrial peace.

They teach better and have deep knowledge in practice which is most needed. If you believe in yourselves, why don't you allow your lectures to be RECORDED and uploaded online on youtube platforms.
