Former Adansi Asokwa MP and legal practitioner, KT Hammond, has clashed with journalist Keminni Amanor on live television after he was questioned about his client, Dr Kwabena Donkor and how his trip to Turkey was funded amid the ongoing bribery allegations involving Asante Berko.

One may recall that following the conviction of former investment banker Asante Kwaku Berko in the United States for paying more than $1 million in bribes to some high-ranking Ghanaian government officials in connection with the development of a power plant in Ghana, the name of former Minister of Power Dr Kwabena Donkor has surfaced in discussions.

According to reports, Dr Kwabena Donkor, who was the Minister of Power at the time of the alleged $1 million bribery scandal, may have played a pivotal role in the scheme.

In a recent development, KT Hammond, counsel for Dr Kwabena Donkor, during an interview on TV3 on August 10, 2026, was questioned about the alleged role the former minister played in the scheme.

KT Hammond had earlier issued a press statement debunking allegations linking his client to the scandal.

During the interview, KT Hammond, who appeared displeased with the line of questioning, was heard asking the journalist whether he was under some form of interrogation.

While responding to questions from Kemini Amanor, the politician told the journalist to “behave herself” and refrain from questioning him as though he were under interrogation.

“Behave yourself. Are you cross-examining me? I have written a statement on the instruction of my client, and you are asking me questions on it. And look at the questions you are asking me. What is your name again? I will make sure I do not pick your calls again.

“How can you ask me that? Is it professional to ask such a question? I appreciate how journalists operate, but don't hide behind questions that are not comfortable. That is a very unfortunate question to ask,” he said.

Kwaku Asante Berko, a former Goldman Sachs Group Inc banker, has been convicted of paying more than $1 million in bribes related to the development of a power plant in Ghana.

He went on trial in late July 2026 for allegedly bribing government officials in Ghana to secure the lucrative power plant deal for a client.

Asante Berko, 52, and his associates outside the bank are said to have paid high-ranking government officials in Ghana more than US$1 million in bribes a decade ago to approve the development and financing of the multimillion-dollar power plant, prosecutor Katherine Raut told a federal jury in Brooklyn, New York, in her opening statement.

Asante Berko, a dual citizen of the United States and Ghana, was convicted by a federal jury in Brooklyn on all counts of an indictment charging conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), violating the FCPA, and money laundering conspiracy for paying bribes to Ghanaian government officials in connection with the development of a power plant in Ghana.
