The Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has attributed her strong working relationship with President John Dramani Mahama to mutual trust, shared objectives and a common commitment to Ghana’s development.

She disclosed that there haven’t been fundamental disagreements between her and the President because both of them are focused on delivering the objectives of the government’s manifesto and addressing the needs of Ghanaians.

“We have a strategy. So, what is there to fundamentally disagree about? To begin with, the issue is that we are building the nation,” she said.

Speaking during an interview with KSM and sighted by GhanaWeb on August 10, 2026, Prof Opoku-Agyemang said the government’s priority is to build the country rather than create unnecessary tensions within its leadership.

She explained that she understood the enormous pressures and responsibilities associated with the presidency and therefore considered it important to support President Mahama in achieving the administration’s goals.

“He will see more than we would see. He’ll face more pressures than we would,” she indicated.

The Vice President said her trust in President Mahama is based on her knowledge of him and the confidence developed between them through their working relationship.

“You know that he’s not going to do anything away from the agreed objectives. You know him enough, you trust him enough, and he demonstrates that enough,” she stated.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang said the shared understanding and trust between the two leaders continue to guide their collaboration as they work to implement the government’s development agenda.
