Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Nana Oduro Sarfo, has disclosed that the association is engaging other coaches to take over the Black Stars coaching role.

According to him, the GFA is currently speaking to various coaches to determine their availability and the terms they would require if given the opportunity.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is still in talks with other coaches for the Black Stars job,” Oduro Sarfo told Kumasi-based Ezra Radio.

Reports suggest that current coach Carlos Queiroz has been unable to reach an agreement with the GFA due to his demands, which the association believes the nation cannot meet.

This disparity in terms and conditions has stalled negotiations, prompting the GFA to explore the coaching market for alternatives.

The move is expected to be expedited as the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers begin in September 2026, with Ghana set to face Côte d’Ivoire away in their opening match.

Queiroz, 73, was appointed on a short-term contract to lead Ghana just weeks before the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, replacing Otto Addo. Despite limited preparation time, the experienced Portuguese tactician guided the Black Stars to the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time since their historic run to the quarter-finals in 2010.

However, uncertainty has surrounded his future since Ghana’s elimination from the tournament. While some supporters have called for a change in leadership, President John Dramani Mahama has publicly urged the GFA to retain the former Real Madrid manager.
