    So CUTS I have a proposition, why don't you test your hypothesis by suing DVLA for these late charges. If you win then most of us will have a case going back years, I personally had to pay a fine when last I renewed licence. ...

    Very good initiative by CUTS. Our society is too chaotic and lawless. DVLA can not just decide to charge motorists without any legal backing. They should operate under a legal framework.

    The fees will deter drivers from thinking they can avoid renewal fees or save money by renewing late. A driver must always carry a valid unexpired license. Good job DVLA.
