A family picture of former Ghana international Nii Odartey Lamptey with his wife, Ruweida Yakubu, and their three children has resurfaced online, drawing attention to the footballer’s new chapter after years of personal and legal battles.

The picture shows Odartey Lamptey standing with his wife and their three children in what appears to be a family celebration.

The former footballer is dressed in a wine-coloured suit, while Ruweida wears a white dress. Their youngest daughter and son are also dressed in white, with their eldest child standing out in black.

The image has sparked renewed interest in the family life of the former Black Stars star, whose first marriage to Gloria Appiah ended after DNA tests established that the three children raised during the marriage were not his biological children.

The divorce was followed by a lengthy legal battle over the former couple’s properties, particularly Odartey Lamptey’s seven-bedroom mansion at East Legon.

The Accra High Court granted the divorce and ordered Appiah to vacate the property, awarding her a four-bedroom house at Dome, two vehicles and a cash settlement. Her subsequent attempts to claim the East Legon mansion were unsuccessful, with the courts ultimately ruling in favour of Odartey.

The property was eventually returned to the former footballer in 2022.

Years later, Odartey appears to have found a new beginning with Ruweida, with the couple now raising three children of their own.
