Police Ladies produced a spirited performance to defeat arch-rivals Army Ladies and clinch the maiden 2026 Women's Democracy Cup title.

The match, played on August 7, 2026, at McDan Park in La, saw both sides battle fiercely in pursuit of victory.

Police Ladies created numerous chances in the first half but failed to convert most of them, leaving the game deadlocked for much of the opening period.

The breakthrough eventually came when a well-weighted through pass split the Army Ladies defence and found Fidus Yakubu, who calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to give Police Ladies the lead before halftime.

Army Ladies returned from the break with renewed energy, piling pressure on their opponents in search of an early equaliser.



However, despite creating a flurry of chances, they were unable to find the back of the net as the Police Ladies goalkeeper produced a series of outstanding saves to keep a clean sheet.

The closing stages turned into an end-to-end contest, but Police Ladies held firm to secure a 1-0 victory.



The triumph saw Police Ladies make history as the first team to win the maiden Women's Democracy Cup.

The event attracted several high-profile dignitaries, including the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor; the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror; the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo; and other distinguished guests.
