Newly appointed Minister of Defence, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has spoken for the first time following news of his appointment to the position.

The minister designate, who previously served as the Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, expressed his appreciation to the staff of the ministry in a post shared on X on August 7, 2026.

According to Kenneth Adjei, his work at the ministry would not have been possible without the efforts and support of the staff.

Kenneth Adjei additionally noted that his time at the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources had taught him valuable lessons about service, humility, and collaboration, among others, which he does not take lightly.

“I am profoundly grateful to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in me and the opportunity to serve the people of Ghana as Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources. My time at the Ministry has been one of service, learning, collaboration and, above all, a commitment to delivering on the mandate entrusted to us.

“I extend my deepest appreciation to the dedicated staff of the Ministry for their hard work, professionalism and unwavering support. The progress and successes we achieved together would not have been possible without your commitment and sacrifice,” he said.

Speaking about his new appointment as Minister of Defence, he thanked President Mahama for the confidence reposed in him and for entrusting him with the new responsibility.

According to him, he would give his best in his new role and work towards contributing to the country’s development and security.

“I do so with humility, renewed energy, and a deep sense of duty. I am optimistic about the road ahead and look forward to contributing meaningfully to our collective efforts to build a stronger and more secure Ghana,” he added.
