The Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga, has reportedly been appointed Leader of the Majority Caucus in Parliament.

James Agalga would now be replacing the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, as the Majority Leader.

This comes after the nomination of Mahama Ayariga as the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs by President John Dramani Mahama.

Until he was appointed the Majority Leader, James Agalga was the Chairperson of the Interior and Defence Committee of Parliament.

Under President John Dramani Mahama's first term, Agalga served as Deputy Minister for the Interior.

In Parliament, his work has largely centred on security, defence, constitutional and legal matters.

He has served on the Defence and Interior Committee and the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, among others, and has held ranking responsibilities on parliamentary committees dealing with security and human rights.
