Two people have died and seven others sustained injuries following a road crash at Abor Junction on the Mankessim–Accra Highway in the Central Region.

According to a post shared on the Facebook page of the Ghana National Fire Service, the accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, August 6, 2026, after the Mankessim Fire Station received a distress call at about 1:44 a.m.

It said a rescue team from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), together with personnel from the National Ambulance Service, was dispatched to the scene.

"Upon arrival, the crew observed a crashed Toyota Voxy vehicle with registration number AS 8911-25. They encountered nine victims, comprising two injured females and five injured males, with two individuals, one male and one female, confirmed deceased at the scene. The team quickly secured the area and assisted the victims into the ambulance for urgent transport to medical facilities," it stated.

The GNFS further indicated that they secured the area and assisted in moving the victims into an ambulance for emergency medical attention.

"Three of the injured were taken to Mercy Women Catholic Hospital in Mankessim, while the two deceased were transported to Saltpond Government Hospital in Saltpond," the post added.

The firefighters later cleared debris from the accident scene to prevent further incidents.
