The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNESCO to launch a National Digital and AI Capacity Building Programme aimed at transforming technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Ghana.

Speaking at the signing ceremony on August 5, 2026, the Administrator of GETFund, Paul Adjei, underscored the Fund’s commitment to strategic investments in educational infrastructure, human capital development and innovative programmes that expand access to quality education.

“We recognise that the future competitiveness of our nation depends significantly on the ability of our TVET institutions to produce graduates who are not only technically competent, but also digitally empowered and ready to thrive in the fourth industrial revolution,” he said.

Adjei noted that the partnership aligned with the government’s National Development Agenda and its vision of building an industry-responsive TVET system.

He further explained that combining UNESCO’s global expertise in education and data transformation with GETFund’s financing would lay the foundation for sustainable investment in green carbon ecosystems, AI education, instructor capacity building and expanded opportunities for Ghanaian learners.

He expressed appreciation to UNESCO for its confidence in Ghana’s transformative initiative, describing the collaboration as a long-term partnership that would strengthen institutional capacity, foster innovation and promote digital inclusion.

“As we proceed to today’s signing ceremony, let us view this letter of intent as the beginning of a long-term partnership that will deliver for our students, our industries, and ultimately our nation’s economic and socio-economic development,” he added.
