Jordan Ayew is officially without a club following the end of his latest spell in England, leaving the Ghana captain with a major decision to make as he considers the next move of his long career.

The 34-year-old has spent the bulk of his career in Europe and has considerable experience in England, having played for Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City.

With the new season approaching, clubs are reportedly monitoring the experienced forward, but his wages and status as Ghana captain could make his next destination particularly interesting.

Ghana Premier League

A return to the Ghana Premier League would be one of the biggest transfer stories in the country.

Jordan could follow the path taken by former Black Stars players such as Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari and Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, who returned to play in Ghana after establishing themselves in Europe.

Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko would be the obvious clubs to watch, although Jordan’s salary expectations could make a deal difficult.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia could provide perhaps the most financially attractive option.

With the Saudi Pro League continuing to recruit experienced players from Europe, Jordan’s Premier League pedigree and international experience could make him an appealing target.

At this stage of his career, a lucrative contract in the Gulf could also give the Black Stars captain an opportunity to maximise his earnings before retirement.

Premier League return

A return to England remains another possibility.

Newly promoted clubs and teams looking for experience could see value in a forward who has spent years playing Premier League football.

Jordan’s experience, versatility and leadership could be particularly useful to a club battling to establish itself or avoid relegation.

France

France could offer Jordan a return to where his senior career began.

He came through Marseille's academy and made his first-team breakthrough with the club before moving to Lorient and eventually beginning his English adventure.

However, unlike Saudi Arabia and England, there has been little concrete transfer noise from France so far.
