The High Court in Accra has ordered the freezing of four bank accounts belonging to former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, amid an ongoing investigation into alleged financial crimes.

According to a report by TV3, the freeze order was issued during court proceedings on Monday, August 3, 2026, following an application linked to investigations being conducted by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

“The High Court has ordered the freezing of 4 bank accounts belonging to former GIHOC Distilleries Managing Director, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, as the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) investigates an alleged GHS 7 million financial loss,” TV3 reported on Monday.

Kofi Jumah is being investigated over several allegations, including the acquisition and use of company vehicles, the alleged unauthorised sale of corporate assets and claims of inflated staff numbers during his tenure at GIHOC Distilleries.

One of the key issues under investigation is the alleged sale of a Genesis G90 saloon car to Mr Jumah.

He is also accused of retaining two additional company vehicles after leaving office, including an Audi reportedly valued at more than $60,000.

One of the vehicles was reportedly used by a family member before it was subsequently returned.

Investigators are also examining allegations surrounding the sale of GIHOC properties in Tema, reportedly valued at more than $700,000.

Kofi Jumah was arrested in April 2026 in connection with the allegations and was subsequently released on bail.

The latest court order forms part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged financial loss at GIHOC Distilleries.
