The Okyenhene of Akyem Abuakwa, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has announced that he will henceforth vet and investigate anyone seeking to swear the Oath of Allegiance to him.

Speaking at a traditional gathering in a video sighted by GhanaWeb on August 1, 2026, the Okyenhene said all persons seeking to swear the Oath of Allegiance would undergo a vetting process to establish their background before being accepted.

"Henceforth, I will vet and investigate any man who comes to be sworn in to determine where he is from. In fact, we must be able to get a camera to capture and discern your conscience during the swearing-in, so that you do not come here to engage in uncalled-for acts," he said.

He explained that the decision was prompted by previous instances in which some individuals who had sworn allegiance later acted in ways that contradicted the oath they had taken.

"You even claim that you will be diligent in your work, and I, in turn, promise to be honest with you and protect you, so that when you go out there you are secure. But if you refuse to honour your oath, how dare you expect my protection when you have been untruthful to me?" he quizzed.

The Oath of Allegiance is a key part of the installation and confirmation process for chiefs and other office holders under the Ofori Panin Stool.
