The Office of the Attorney General has filed an appeal at the apex court of the land, challenging the Court of Appeal's decision to acquit former MASLOC CEO Christine Sedina Tamakloe, who had been sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment for crimes she was accused of while in office.

In the application, which was sighted by GhanaWeb, the Office of the Attorney General, through Hilda V GRAIG, told the Supreme Court that it was dissatisfied with the Court of Appeal's ruling.

“TAKE NOTICE that the Republic, being dissatisfied with the decision of the Court of Appeal contained in the judgement of the Court of Appeal sitting on July 30, 2025, hereby gives you notice of an appeal against the said decision to the Supreme Court on the grounds stated in paragraph 2,” part of the notice of appeal reads.

The State Attorneys indicated that they were appealing the decision of the Court of Appeal because it had led to a “substantial miscarriage of justice.”

It also added that the decision of the court was not backed by any evidence before it.

Below are all the grounds of appeal listed by the Office of the Attorney General:

a. The judgement of the Court of Appeal is not supported by the evidence on record.

b. The Court of Appeal erred when it held that the conviction of the Respondent was not supported by the evidence on record.

c. The judgement has occasioned a substantial miscarriage of justice

d. Additional grounds may be filed upon receipt of the record.

BREAKING: Attorney General moves to halt Sedina Tamakloe's acquittal

The Court of Appeal overturned Tamakloe-Attionu's conviction after finding that the prosecution had failed to present sufficient evidence to prove the charges against her beyond a reasonable doubt.

The appellate court acquitted and discharged the former MASLOC boss after concluding that the evidence presented before the trial court did not sufficiently establish the alleged offences for which she had been convicted.

Tamakloe-Attionu had earlier been sentenced to 10 years in prison by the High Court after being found guilty of offences including stealing, causing financial loss to the state, money laundering, and breaches of procurement laws during her tenure as Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC.
