The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has reaffirmed the role of traditional authorities in promoting responsible mining and sustainable management of Ghana's mineral resources during a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between traditional leadership and state institutions to support responsible gold governance, enhance transparency in the gold sector and maximise the contribution of Ghana's mineral wealth to national development.

During the engagement on Monday July 27, 2027, the Ga Mantse and the GoldBod CEO discussed how customary authorities can support ongoing efforts to sanitise the gold industry, promote compliance with regulations and encourage responsible mining practices across mining communities.

They also explored ways to deepen cooperation between traditional institutions and government agencies to improve community participation in the governance of the gold sector while safeguarding Ghana's natural resources for future generations.

The discussions underscored the importance of sustainable resource management in driving economic transformation, with both leaders recognising that stronger partnerships between regulators, traditional rulers and industry stakeholders are essential to protecting the environment and ensuring mining communities benefit from the country's gold resources.

The courtesy call reaffirmed a shared commitment to supporting GoldBod's mandate and advancing policies that promote accountability, responsible gold governance and sustainable development within Ghana's mining industry.
