Emery and Emmett Acheampong, the 11-year-old Ghanaian identical twins who tragically drowned in Spain, have been laid to rest amid scenes of grief and heartbreak.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on July 27, 2026, family members, friends and loved ones were seen weeping uncontrollably as they gathered to pay their final respects to the late children.

The twins, who lived with their family in Manlleu, Barcelona, reportedly left home on Monday, July 13, 2026, to play football but never returned.

According to Spanish media reports published on July 14, 2026, their father reported them missing after they failed to come home, prompting local police to launch an extensive search.

The search eventually led officers to the Ter River, where the first body was recovered at about 1:00 pm, followed by the second at around 2:00 pm. Both were found in the riverbed.

Investigators also discovered clothing matching what the boys had reportedly been wearing near the area where their bodies were recovered.
