The thing is that most private business owners do not pay their employees well. I have worked in a private owned company before . They are mostly stingy their money, and they seek accountability for every penny they spend , they only consider their nuclear family or direct family but as for an outsider they don't care about you or your wellbeing. That's how much rich and well to do business owners operate. And as for their employees if you don't like what they are paying you then you can resign or leave the job another person will take over. They feel they struggled alone so only them and their family should enjoy it. They have a crazy mind set .

2,000 cedis a month? When you're this rich and and still pay your loyal driver of 17 years 1000 cedis per month, that's what will happen. All this riches and your driver still lived in a kiosk with his wife and children at adjiringano, after years of committed service. Ask this man if he even knew or cared where his driver lived after 17 years? He paints a beautiful picture of himself to the public but those close to him knows the real truth. A&C staff are all thieves because of their measly salaries. It's a glorified working environment with little to nothing to show for at the end of the month. Let him say how much he pays his employees.

Good decision! The mindset of some Ghanaians is soo evil. Despite paying them the agreed salaries, they still look for avenjsss to steal, corrupt the work, do whatever that comes to their mind. Just imagine an owner of a barbershop who also sells cooled drinks at an extra fee to cover the costs of the refrigerator and electricity bills only for the employee to also buy same drinks from outside, store them in his bag and at the end of the day put them in the fridge and pocket the money. He will then tell his boss that there was no sales. When he was fired, he came with all manner of persons to plead on his behalf and he refused they called him wicked and all sort of names. If it were me, I would even have taken him to court for stealing and sought damages. Thieves.

This practice is common in our markets . Sales boys and girls stand on the goodwill of the shop and it’s owner and sell their own items rather than that of the shops. It is so disheartening . This is one reason why many Ghanaian businesses do not and cannot expand. In effect, you’d have to be at your shop physically or adopt surveillance mechanisms at extra cost. You employ a worker and he wants to be like you. Drive the same car or even bigger one than you . They have absolutely no clue how you got your capital; the loans you are paying off etc

Have you asked yourself about the price difference?
Not to justify the act but sometimes if shop owners are not greedy enough and price their items reasonably I don’t think their employees would sell theirs , same product and make money for themselves . Didn’t the shop attendant buy those products with money ? Why does he sell at where he works and keep the profit for himself . Moreover if you open business without any supervision, such things are bound to happen .

The best way, was to work out the stolen money and recover the money through monthly deductions from the drivers salary.
The driver would have learnt a better lesson than sacking him.
I hope he finds another ignorant driver who is willing to sacrifice 17 years of his life serving and making someone rich.
At least, it would have been better he learnt a trade or went to work for STC.

I don't think his salary reaches GH 1200.Why am I saying this,I know a certain driver who have worked for his boss for 15 years and his monthly salary is GH 850.
And Ghanaian employers know that the monthly salary giving to you is nothing and there are no jobs in the system,so if you decide to go, another person will take over the same day.
The most unfortunate thing is that, most of these employers don't pay SSNIT contributions for their employees and you raise an alarm, you become number one enemy in your working place.
The laws are not working ,I once heard that even the minimum wage,if the employer can't pay ,it is not force.I don't know how true it is.
But for Christ sake,Privat Sector workers are really suffering. No one to talk for them.
Though they are going through difficulties do not
qualify employee to steal.

If someone employs you and you think they're paying you pittance , as some have suggested, you can request for a raise, or as I believe, you can look elsewhere for a new job. It's not by force. But why would you continue to be there and then steal and run the business down. That's criminal, and you have many here defending it. Eii. We must have some scruples in life.

Reading reactions from people, I must say that I am shocked at people justifying stealing from your workplace, this reveals a lot about the thinking of the average Ghanaian employee
That driver has what is called Ghana man sense, how can you be buying same quantity of gasoline used when driving your boss and when he's out of the country and he says uses it for warming the car, what does that mean and people think it's poor salary, what about Ken Ofori Attah, was it poor salary too?

Please retire in 2028 and enjoy your life. MY GHANA NEEDS STRONG LEADERSHIP JUST LIKE JJs time. The fact is clear some criminal tribes will hate a president because he is doing the right thing. No doubt these tribes have become one of the poorest and most illiterate tribes in the History of mankind. They are going down very fast. HOW SHAMEFUL IT IS TO BE ONE OF THEM EVEN IF I AM RICH
he did the right thing. people take advantage of you when they feel they have entrenched position in your life. if it was the driver's first day on the job, he wouldn't do that. but after 17 years, he feels 'unsackable' and s ...

Some bosses too steal papa!;public office Holders, making those under them slaves
The story said his employee stole from him the boss so why deviate from the discourse ?
I think you are a thief!
And so is the dishonest driver justified in stealing from his boss? What's even wrong with you, or you didn't read the article. Mtchew.
Upon all the privileges political appointees get they still steal the tax payers money, a thief is a thief even if you hand over world bank to him or her
he did not become millioner by being stupid he did the right thing firing the thiff
Wicked Sakora man.
Any kind of fraud is fraud and it should not be encouraged. The driver will learn his lesson.
The business owner should have disclosed the driver's salary for readers to know how ungrateful he has been in stealing from his employer. I strongly believe his salary is nowhere near Ghc 2,000.00 a month!
Good point there. Hardly do we hear of Ghanaian business owners giving bonuses to their staff after responding huge amounts in profits. Very wicked people. It's always the multinationals who do that. For all we know the drive ...

If his salary was low, why was he pleading to be reinstated? He could have simply gone to find another job, anaa?
