Social media is free so people talk without thinking much about what they say. @Akabenezer & co, who are asking about Prince's contribution to Ghana football, what are your own contributions to Ghana football? Some of you were never even fit to be ball boys for inter-kindergatten tournaments in your villages yet you are commenting on Black Star matters. You mean, you can talk about Black Star matters but ex Black Star, however little or much his contributions were, cannot talk.
How many Ghanaians didn't find obvious faults with Carlos Queiros' selections and approach in our third and fourth games. The Black Star of today do not have a dominant midfield. One of the best approaches for the squad is to hold off their opponents and use quick counterattacks. Yet Queiros insisted on using stamina bankrupt Mr hold the at one place, push your opponents with your buttocks, fall down, and take the resulting free kicks. Incidentally or coincidentally, the only two goals the Black Star scored happened when his 'indispensable' super-attacker was off the field.
Can we continue to trust Mr Queiros' coaching judgement?

The coach had to defend because of the kind of players available in the BS.
The BS currently does not have many players who are very good on the ball and can hold, dribble and give accurate long passes like Muntari, Essien, Kwadwo Asamoah, Wakaso, Afriyie Acquah, etc.
The midfielders in the team right now are too mechanical and cannot move past a single opponent.
So he had to defend most times because the attack was not sharp.
Players who are good on the ball like Majeed Ashimeru should be called back immediately

This talk about maintaining a football identity is not only nonsensical, but also a portrayal tactical illetracy.
What was needed for the team is a versatile tactical set-up, which could make the best use of the available time for preparation, player quality/form, and resources at the disposal of the team.
With Mo Kudus out of the team, the attacking set-up was rather 'below par', and that necessitated a tactical approach of defending, maintaining a tight midfield, and catching the opponent in smart counter-attacks. The coach and the team executed this strategy, apparently better than any other team in the tormament, nearly giving us a victory over England (if officiating had been more competent and fair). England tried, but failed woefully to execute a similar strategy in the latter part of their game with Argentina.
The Black Stars however, showed great attacking potential in the match against Croatia (despite the loss).
The Black Stars could have lost every match disastrously (like what happened to Tunisia) if they had gone charging at their opponents in the name of 'football identity'. Remember what happened in the friendly match with Austria.
Looking at all this, it makes reasonable sense that the coach should be given the opportunity and necessary support to build on what was achieved at the world cup.

The Ghana Black Stars' general playing style in the 2010 FIFA World Cup was defined by a highly disciplined, conservative, and defensively rigid structure that prioritized physical dominance in midfield and efficient counter-attacks. Under Serbian manager Milovan Rajevac, the team moved away from Ghana's traditional expansive, expressive flair to form a pragmatic, results-driven identity. [Source: Yen.com.gh]
It was the DEFENSIVELY RIGID STRUCTURE adotped during the 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP, that took us to the QUARTER FINALS of the tournament.
Note that in that tornament, we had the legendary Asamoah Gyang in the team.

A good case in point was the 2008 AFCON, when Ghana was beaten 1-0 by a defensively structured Cameroonian team, inspite of the game being played mostly in the Cameroonian half, especially in the second half of the game.

How many matches did the coached play?
I believe it is one win (Panama),2 draws (Wales & England) and 2 loses(Croatia & Colombia)
For a coach who took the reins for a very short period the results are respectable, in view of the way the Black Stars was conceding goals and losing matches we had no business losing.
I noticed the coach has started by building a strong defence, even though missing 2 strong defenders( Djiku and Sualisu).
I am sure he will work on the midfield and the attack as time goes by.
Tagoe should know that building a team does;nt take a month or even 6 months. Cape Verde, Morocco,Egypt,Congo,Senegal and even Ivory Coast did'nt take a few months build.
