Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, has been captured in a viral video leaving the courtroom after the High Court delivered its judgment in the Akonta mining case involving Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi and others.

In a video shared by The1957News and circulating on social media, Dr Justice Srem-Sai is seen walking out of the court premises shortly after proceedings ended and being approached by journalists for his comment.

Asked how he felt about the apparent state win following the sentence, Dr Srem-Sai appeared to avoid the question.

“I’m sure a lot of people are applauding you because indeed you have fought a good fight,” the journalist said.

“Let me just position myself…” he said as he made his way through a mob eager to hear his response.

Despite the anticipation from the crowds gathered around, he went straight to his car.

The footage comes after the conclusion of the high-profile Samreboi illegal mining case, in which Chairman Wontumi was sentenced by the High Court for offences linked to illegal mining.

The case has attracted significant public attention due to its links to illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, and the involvement of one of the NPP's prominent regional executives.
