The US Embassy in Accra will temporarily suspend most routine consular services from July 20 to July 31, 2026, to allow for scheduled facility maintenance.

In a statement issued on July 14, 2026, the Embassy explained full services are expected to resume on August 3, 2026.

The Embassy noted that as part of the temporary closure, walk-in services for notarial appointments and Consular Reports of Death Abroad (CRODA) will not be available.

However, applicants who have already received email notifications that their pending passports or Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA) documents are ready for collection can visit the Embassy.

"Applicants who have been notified through email that a pending passport or Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) document is available for pickup can still report to the Embassy on Thursdays between 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm", the statement said.

The Embassy also stated that adult passport renewal applications submitted through its drop box facility will continue to be processed during the maintenance period.

Applicants requiring passport renewal services have been advised to follow the instructions available on the US Embassy Accra website.

The Embassy urged the public to take note of the temporary changes and plan their consular needs ahead of the scheduled resumption of normal operations on August 3, 2026.
