The problem of endemic corruption and malpractices in the public sector is directly tied with judicial corruption, malpractices and injustices. It is trite knowledge that corrupt State Attorneys often collude with Judges and of course Lawyers to suppress cases bothering on public sector corruption and in the process circumvent justice in favour of corrupt public officers, for people brave to sue government insitutions for accountability and damages. The Judiciary and specifically the Courts have become an integral part of the corruption industry in the Country. From grieve vine sources, some State Attorneys at the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General are notorious for taking kickbacks and bribes from corrupt public officials togo and see Judges and Lawyers to gag and destroy cases of aggrieved poor Plaintiffs who sue government insitutions for breach of their fundamental rights through actions such as victimization in the context of arbitrarily dismissals, confiscation of licenses and termination of salaries. In most cases, State Attorneys are clearly aware it is impossible to win such cases on the basis of the weight of evidence presented by the aggrieved Plaintiff as an Employee who have been victimized by actors of the Employer as authority in a public institution. Yet still,they will go and file bogus defences in Court in the name of the Attorney General Department under the guise of defending the State, when in fact it is about the said State Attorney's vested narrow parochial interest of selfish personal gains, through corruption and bribery. I am reliably informed such unprofessional, unethical and corrupt State Attorneys are called 'Contractors' at the Attorney General Department and Ministry of Justice, as part of the corruption syndicate in the corruption industry especially in the public sector. In fact, these bad nuts are well known even by the leadership of the justice ministry and Attorney General but nothing is being done to enforce disciplinary measures against them, which have unfortunately turned the Justice Ministry and Attorney General into a hub of illicit transactions and corrupt practices like bribe taking and other dubious practices such as forgery of documents and cooked evidence against Plaintiffs with very legitimate and genuine cases in Court, to over turn cases which is not necessarily in the national interest but the said State Attorney's personal interest.It is trite knowledge that State Attorneys from the AG Department pretending to be acting in the interest of the State often connive with Court Staff such as Registrars, Bailiffs, Court Clarks with the tacit support and knowledge of the Presiding Judge in most instances, to hide documents such as proof of service of hearing notices to frustrate, prolong and gag the case of the beleaguered Plaintiff. For instance, if a case can be in Court, especially the Human Rights Court for 15 years without reaching the trial stage as a result of overt malpractices in Court, most of which are peversive and in fact criminal in nature, that certainly cannot speak well of a Country that pride itself in democracy, rule of law and respect for fundamental rights and freedom of persons as a Republic with a written constitution. It is an indictment on judicial impartiality, fairness, accountability, transparency and independence. It is an indication of glaring cowardice, overt subservience, bootlicking, political patronage and homage in the interest of functionaries of the executive government, where the Judiciary as an important arm of Government itself, is reneging on its core mandate and duties of holding public officers accountable for their excesses in breach of the constitution, as representatives of executive government. I have a brother who have been a victim of grave injustice because of the activities of a very corrupt State Attorney who is liaising with Court staff including Judges and Lawyers to frustrate and suppress his case, just because high profile politicians and public servants as State actors are involved in the case. What is the use of the Constitution if the Court cannot protect vulnerable and powerless citizens who become victims of the rich and powerful, as top public servants and politicians. This very State Attorney have engage in all manner of dubious, unethical and unprofessional conduct in Court such as forging of documents and persistently lying in Court to attack the person of my Brother well aware any attempt yo allow trial of the substantive issue will cause her great embarrassment, because there is no way she can defend the indefensible, even with the backing of the Court and the Attorney General. In an attempt to win a case that has been pending in Court for 14 years since 2012, through the backdoor, she even got my Brother's license of practice seized, got him expelled from work and got his salary terminated in a contrived action between the Attorney General, the Employer and the Regulator. Anybody who have a suit against any government institution as a result of victimization by a corrupt public official in the High Court in Accra should watch out against this State Attorney by name MARIAM ATINDEM AKAWARI. The Live Court Broadcast is necessary because of such calibre of State Attorneys or Lawyers who are destroying the Judiciary and justice system of this Country with their corrupt and illicit practices against the General Legal Council prescribed rules of ethical conduct by lawyers. The public have been very critical of the Judiciary and rightly so way before Anas's expose' on the judiciary and the Courts. We need a life broadcast of court sessions to ensure transparency and fairness in hearings devoid of manipulation of the courts by powerful figures through surrogates. I don't think a life broadcast of events in Courts will cost this Country and giving the gravity of corruption and malpractices in Court and respectfully disagree with the learned Judge. It will rather serve the interest of the Country well, especially for the majority poor and powerless who don't have the affluence and influence to skew hearing and judgements in their favour in litigation. Considering the live broadcast of court events will give true meaning to our constitution, in the shape of actualizing Constitutionalism.
