Unfortunately, government outfits from municipal assembly offices to the ministries would frustrate any potential investors with their nauseating corruption and bad behavior that only discourage such individuals. Dr Aduttwum, needs to understand that the purpose of universities is notjust about job creation but training people about critical thinking and values. To suggest that the courses that immediately offer people jobs after graduation are more relevant is to presented a distorted , and narrow view of what Universities serve. Such a view ignores the difference betweeen vocational education( purposely training people for certain tasks or jobs) and providing a holistic training. For example, Julius Debarah, Chief of Staff at the presidency did not study political science but archaeology; Dr Clement Apaak studied the same archaeology but both of these have turned out to be the most effective political operators, and critical thinkers. They exemplify what good rounded education serves, Dr Adutwum, needs to stop confusing Ghanaians with his neoliberal ( caharter school) view of a segment of american education philosophy that priviligies material production over solving complex problems.

Surely the govt which funds the universities can direct or formulate policies to increase or decrease the study of certain causes to achieve govt goals.
Dr Adutwum and his govt failed to do so, it is no defence to say govt cannot direct universities to terminate some causes or introduce new causes.
But the universities like University of Ghana train students in the humanities to be able to fit or function in wherever they find themselves.
JJ Rawlings was thinking of development of Ghana when he built the University of Developmental Studies and an aspiring President and an education is is saying Developmental studies is useless in Ghana! I would be interested in the courses that Dr Adutwum offered at the University.
First degrees are springboards to other degrees and courses at post graduate level.

The more strategic question is whether Ghana's higher education programmes are designed, delivered and continuously reviewed to produce graduates who can contribute meaningfully to society, the economy and the future of work.
From a quality assurance perspective, no programme should be exempt from evidence-based review. Equally, no programme should be dismissed solely by its title.
The test is not what a programme is called, but whether it consistently delivers relevant knowledge, transferable competencies, employability and societal impact.
