If a defendant deliberately absconds, flees the jurisdiction, or willfully refuses to appear after being properly notified of a court date, the court may choose to proceed in the interest of justice. So I don't understand all this noise. Why don't they go ahead and charge him, provide their evidence and proceed with the case if he refuses to appear in court. They don't have jack s*it against the man.
